Working days a year (Monday–Friday), January 2005 – 2027
This page shows the public holidays of Türkiye year by year since 2005: the dates of Ramazan and Kurban Bayramı, the half-day eves, the holidays that fall on weekdays and the working days of each year. The feast dates come from the calendar of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The working days calculator reads this table.
How to read the table
- Ramazan Bayramı (Eid al-Fitr) and Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha): the full holidays of the feast; in brackets, the eve, which is off from 1 pm. When a year has two feasts of one kind, both are listed.
- Holidays on weekdays: the public holidays that fall Monday to Friday; an eve and 28 October count as half a day. A holiday on a weekend is not in this column.
- Working days: the year’s Mondays to Fridays minus the holidays on weekdays.
- Administrative leave: days a circular gave public servants only. They are not public holidays and do not come off the working days column.
Periods
The fixed holidays fall on the same day every year: 1 January, 23 April, 1 May, 19 May, 15 July, 30 August, 28 October from 1 pm and 29 October. 1 May has been a holiday since 2009, 15 July since 2017. The feasts follow the lunar calendar and move about 11 days earlier each year. 2006 had two Kurban Bayramı; the second began on 31 December and ran into the first three days of 2007.
Legal basis
Articles 1 and 2 of Law no. 2429 on National Holidays and Public Holidays set the holidays. Law no. 5892 added 1 May (from 27 April 2009), Law no. 6752 added 15 July (from 29 October 2016). Ramazan Bayramı lasts 3.5 days and Kurban Bayramı 4.5 days from 1 pm on the eve; Republic Day starts at 1 pm on 28 October. The law does not give the feasts’ dates: under art. 5 (h) of Law no. 633 on the Presidency of Religious Affairs, Diyanet sets and announces the religious days.
