Türkiye Severance Pay Ceiling by Year

This page shows every period of Türkiye’s severance pay ceiling since 2005: the highest severance pay that can be paid for one year of service. The ceiling in force is at the top; every period is in the table and the chart. Each row cites the circular that announced it; the severance calculator picks the ceiling of the exit date.

How to read the table

• Ceiling (per year of service): under article 14 of Labour Law no. 1475, the severance pay for each full year of service cannot exceed the retirement bonus paid to the highest civil servant for one year of service. When the gross wage with benefits is above this amount, the calculation uses the ceiling.
• Period: the ceiling changes with the civil servant salary coefficient in January and July, and within the year when extra raises are granted in high-inflation periods. The table lists each period as its own row with its first and last day.

Which date counts

Severance pay is calculated with the ceiling in force on the day the employment contract ends, not on the day of payment. The amounts for 2005 to 2008 are in New Turkish lira; one YTL equals one TL, so the figures read like today’s lira.
