The Türkiye DASK calculator finds the compulsory earthquake insurance premium of a home. Enter the gross area, the building class and the risk group of the address; add the floors, the permit year and a renewal if you know them. It shows the insured sum at the month’s cost per m², the premium and the 2% deductible.

Step by step
Insured sum (cover)
insured sum = min(gross area × cost per m²; maximum cover)
insured sum = min(100 × 11,737.00; 2,488,318.00) = 1,173,700.00 TRY
tariff premium = insured sum × tariff rate
tariff premium = 1,173,700.00 × 2.82 per mille = 3,310.00 TRY
Yearly DASK premium
premium = max(tariff premium; minimum premium I)
premium = max(3,310.00; 2,317.00) = 3,310.00 TRY
Deductible per claim (2%)
deductible = insured sum × 2%
deductible = 1,173,700.00 × 2% = 23,474.00 TRY
How to use
- Enter the Gross area of the home in m², as on the title deed or the building permit.
- Choose the Building class: reinforced concrete or other.
- Choose the Earthquake risk group of your address. DASK’s interactive earthquake map shows it by neighbourhood.
- For a reinforced concrete building, choose the Floors above ground and enter the Building permit year if you know it.
- If you renew within 30 days after the old policy ends, choose renewal under Policy.
- For another month’s tariff, enter the Policy start date; leave it empty for today’s tariff.
Formula
Insured sum = min(gross area × cost per m²; maximum cover)Tariff premium = insured sum × per mille rate × (1 + discounts and surcharges)Premium = max(tariff premium; minimum premium)
The gross area includes the home’s share of the common areas. The cost per m² depends on the building class, and the maximum cover is the highest insured sum per home; both change every month. The per mille rate is the tariff rate of the risk group and the class. The minimum premium depends on the risk group. Every period’s amounts are on the DASK tariff by month page.
Worked example
The example on this page shows the premium of a 100 m² flat in a reinforced concrete building in risk group 1 at today’s tariff. The first step multiplies the gross area by the cost per m² and compares it with the maximum cover. The second step multiplies the insured sum by the group 1 rate. The last steps compare the premium with the minimum premium and find the deductible.
Limits
The calculator does not look up the risk group from an address; it uses the group you choose. Compulsory earthquake insurance covers the building only; contents, loss of rent and voluntary earthquake cover are not included. The premium is rounded to the lira, as in DASK’s sample premium table, so a policy may differ by a few kuruş. DASK publishes the monthly minimum premium only for the current month; the calculator derives the other months’ from the rise of the cost per m². It has the tariff of policies starting from January 2020, including the temporary 10% discount on policies that started in 2021 and 2022.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the DASK premium calculated?
First the insured sum: gross area × the cost per m² of the building class, at most the maximum cover. The premium is the insured sum × the per mille rate of the risk group and class, and never less than the group’s minimum premium.
How do I find my DASK risk group?
The risk group is set per neighbourhood of the address. Find it on the interactive earthquake map on the DASK website by choosing the province, district and neighbourhood, or on your last policy. Group 1 has the highest risk, group 7 the lowest.
Why does the DASK premium change every month?
Under article 8/A of the tariff, the costs per m², the maximum cover and the minimum premiums rise every month by the monthly change of the domestic producer price index published the month before. The same home costs more or less depending on the policy’s start month.
What discounts does DASK give?
For reinforced concrete buildings, 3 or fewer floors above ground take 10% off; 8 or more floors and a permit before 2000 each add 10%. A renewal within 30 days after the old policy ends takes 20% off for every building class.
Does DASK pay the whole damage?
No. Each claim pays after a deductible of 2% of the insured sum and never more than the insured sum. For value above the maximum cover, a voluntary earthquake policy can be added.
Calculation rules
- Compulsory Earthquake Insurance Tariff and Instructions: insured sum = gross area × the cost per m² of the building class, at most the maximum cover (art. 3, 4); premium = insured sum × the per mille rate of the risk group and class, at least the group’s minimum premium (art. 2).
- The cost per m², the maximum cover and the minimum premiums rise every month by the monthly change of the domestic producer price index published the month before (art. 8/A); the calculator uses the amounts of the policy’s start month. DASK publishes the monthly minimum premium only for the current month; the other months’ follow the rise of the cost per m².
- For reinforced concrete buildings, a permit before 2000 adds 10%, 3 or fewer floors above ground takes 10% off, 8 or more floors adds 10%; renewal within 30 days takes 20% off for every class. Discounts and surcharges are added together and applied to the rate (art. 2/2–8).
- The premium is rounded to the lira, as in DASK’s sample premium table. A claim pays after a deductible of 2% of the insured sum (art. 5).
- The risk group is set per neighbourhood of the address; the calculator does not look it up but uses the group you choose. Voluntary earthquake cover and home insurance are not included.
