Step by step
Full years
service = day checked − start date (both days counted)
service = 2026-09-28 − 2019-03-01 = 7 years 6 months 28 days = 7 years
Leave of this leave year
annual leave = 14, 20 or 26 days by service; at least 20 days at age 18 or under, 50 or over; + 4 days in underground work
annual leave = 20 (service 7 years → 20; age 35) = 20 days
Leave of the next leave year
leave of the next leave year = 14, 20 or 26 days by service; at least 20 days at age 18 or under, 50 or over; + 4 days in underground work
leave of the next leave year = 20 (service 8 years → 20; age 36) = 20 days
Days to the next full year
days to the next full year = last day of service year 8 − day checked
days to the next full year = 2027-02-28 − 2026-09-28 = 153 days
Daily gross wage
daily gross wage = monthly gross wage / 30
daily gross wage = 50,000.00 / 30 = 1,666.67 TRY
Gross leave pay
leave pay = monthly gross wage / 30 × unused days
leave pay = 50,000.00 / 30 × 12 = 20,000.00 TRY

Formula
service = day checked − start date(both days counted)annual leave = 14, 20 or 26 days (by service); at least 20 days at age 18 or under, 50 or over;+ 4 daysin underground workleave pay = last gross wage / 30 × unused days
Each full year of service earns its own leave, set by the service of that year: years 1–5 give 14 days, years 6–14 give 20 days, from year 15 on 26 days. A worker with 5 years and 1 day of service gets 14 days in this leave year; 20 days start when the 6th year is complete. The age is taken on the day the leave year starts.
The 4 days for underground work apply to leave years that start on or after 11 September 2014 (Law 6552). The calculator also adds these 4 days to the 20-day minimum by age: an underground worker aged 50 with 2 years of service gets 24 days. The law does not settle this case; the calculator takes the reading that favours the worker.
Worked example
The worked example on this page shows a worker who started on 1 March 2019, checked on 28 September 2026. Service is 7 years 6 months 28 days; the 7th leave year started on 1 March 2026 and gives 20 days. The next full year is 153 days away. 12 unused days at a gross wage of 50,000 TRY give 20,000 TRY of gross leave pay.
Limits
The calculator gives the number of leave days; it does not plan the leave dates. Leave days are working days: weekly rest days, national holidays and public holidays inside the leave do not count (art. 56). The calculator takes one continuous period of service; adding up service at different workplaces of the same employer is up to you (art. 54). Seasonal and campaign work that lasts less than a year is not covered. Income tax, stamp duty and the SGK premium are not deducted from the leave pay. Leave years that started before 10 June 2003 fall under Law 1475; the calculator does not cover them.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many days of annual leave do workers get in Türkiye?
14 days for 1 to 5 years of service (5 years included), 20 days for more than 5 and less than 15 years, 26 days from 15 years (Labour Law art. 53). These are minimums; a contract can give more.
When does the right to annual leave start?
After one year of work, probation included. The start day and the last day both count: a worker who starts on 01.06.2024 completes one year on 31.05.2025. There is no legal leave before one year.
How much leave do workers aged 50 or over get?
Workers aged 18 or under, or 50 or over, get at least 20 days, whatever their service. The age is taken on the day the leave year starts, the anniversary of the start date.
Do weekends and public holidays count as leave days?
No. Weekly rest days, national holidays and public holidays inside the leave do not count (art. 56). Leave days are working days.
How is the pay for unused leave calculated?
When the contract ends, each unused leave day is paid at one thirtieth of the last gross monthly wage (art. 59). Income tax, stamp duty and the SGK premium are deducted from it; the calculator gives the gross amount.
Calculation rules
- Leave (Labour Law no. 4857 art. 53): 14 days for 1 to 5 years of service (5 years included), 20 days for more than 5 and less than 15 years, 26 days from 15 years. These are minimums; a contract or a collective agreement can give more.
- Each full year of service earns its own leave, set by the service of that year: after 5 years and 1 day this leave year gives 14 days; 20 days start when the 6th year is complete.
- Service counts the start day and the day checked, as in the severance and notice pay calculators. A worker who starts on 01.06.2024 completes one year on 31.05.2025.
- Some calculators do not count the day checked and start the new leave year one day later. This calculator counts both days, because the Court of Cassation counts service that way: 20.06.2012–19.06.2013 is a full year (9th Civil Chamber, E. 2016/35788, K. 2016/21355).
- Workers aged 18 or under, or 50 or over, get at least 20 days. The age is taken on the day the leave year starts (the anniversary of the start date).
- Some calculators take the age on the day checked and give 20 days at once to a worker who turns 50 during a leave year. This calculator takes the age on the day the leave year starts, because art. 9 of the Annual Paid Leave Regulation sets the leave by the date it is earned, and the age rule is in the same article. That worker gets 20 days from the next leave year.
- Underground work adds 4 days (Law 6552, leave years from 11.09.2014). The calculator also adds the 4 days to the 20-day minimum by age: an underground worker aged 50 gets 24 days. The law does not settle this case; the calculator takes the reading that favours the worker.
- Weekly rest days, national holidays and public holidays inside the leave do not count (art. 56); leave days are working days. The calculator gives the number of days, not the leave dates.
- Service at different workplaces of the same employer is added up (art. 54). The calculator takes one continuous period.
- Leave pay (art. 59): unused days × last gross wage / 30, rounded to the kuruş. Income tax, stamp duty and the SGK premium are not deducted.
