Day Counter: How Many Days Until a Date?

The day counter finds how many days are left from today or a date you choose to a target date. Enter the target date; leave the start date empty to count from today in Türkiye time. It also gives the days as full weeks and remaining days. After the target, the result is negative.
Worked example: Days from 13 September 2026 to New Year’s Day 2027

Days until the target
days left = target date − start date
days left = 2027-01-01 − 2026-09-13 = 110 days
Full weeks
full weeks = ⌊|days left| / 7⌋
full weeks = ⌊110 / 7⌋ = 15 weeks
Days after the full weeks
remaining days = |days left| − 7 × full weeks
remaining days = 110 − 7 × 15 = 5 days

The start date is the day you count from; when it is empty, it is today. The start day counts and the target day does not: the day before the target shows 1 day, and the target day shows 0. |days left| is the number of days without its minus sign. ⌊ ⌋ rounds down. February has 29 days in leap years.

The worked example on this page shows the days left from 13 September 2026 to New Year’s Day, 1 January 2027. The steps give the days left, the full weeks and the remaining days.
Limits
The calculator does not count hours; the time left is in calendar days. Today is taken in Türkiye time (Europe/Istanbul), so it can be a different day in another time zone. Weekends and public holidays are not removed. For Monday–Friday business days, use the date difference calculator.

Does the count include the target day?
No. The start day counts and the target day does not. The day before the target shows 1 day; the target day shows 0.
What does the counter show after the target date?
The result is negative and gives the days since the target date. A line under the result also says that the date has passed.
Which time zone is today taken in?
Türkiye time (Europe/Istanbul). The counter moves on by one day after midnight in Türkiye.
Does it show the business days left?
No. The day counter does not remove weekends or holidays. For Monday–Friday business days, use the date difference calculator.
Calculation rules
- Days left is the difference between the two dates: the start day counts, the target day does not. The day before the target shows 1; the target day shows 0.
- When the target has passed, the result is negative and gives the days since. The weeks and remaining days use the number of days without its minus sign.
- When the start date is empty, today is used: the calendar day in Türkiye time (Europe/Istanbul).
- February has 29 days in leap years. Time of day is not used; weekends and holidays are not removed.
