Türkiye VAT Calculator: Add or Remove KDV

Rules and data: TürkiyeBy Hesaplayıcı

The Türkiye VAT calculator adds Turkish value added tax (KDV) to an amount, or takes the VAT out of an amount that includes it. Enter the amount, then choose the VAT rate and the direction. It uses the general rate of 20% and the reduced rates of 10% and 1%. You get the VAT, net and gross amounts.

The general rate is 20%. Some goods and services, such as basic food, have 10% or 1%.

Worked example: Adding 20% VAT to 10,000 TRY

VAT amount

2,000 TRY

Amount without VAT
10,000 TRY
Amount with VAT
12,000 TRY
Step by step
  1. VAT amount

    VAT = net amount × 20%

    VAT = 10,000 × 20% = 2,000

  2. Amount with VAT

gross amount = net amount + VAT

    gross amount = 10,000 + 2,000 = 12,000

How to use

  1. Enter the Amount in TRY.
  2. Choose the VAT rate: 20%, 10% or 1%.
  3. Choose the Direction: “Add VAT” if the amount is without VAT, “Take VAT out” if it includes VAT.
  4. Press Calculate.

Formula

Adding VAT:

  • VAT = net amount × rate
  • Gross amount = net amount + VAT

Taking VAT out:

  • Net amount = gross amount / (1 + rate)
  • VAT = gross amount − net amount

The rate is the VAT rate you choose; 20% is 0.20. The net amount is the price without VAT. The gross amount is the price with VAT. Amounts are rounded to the kuruş. When VAT is taken out, the net amount is rounded first and the VAT is the rest.

Worked example

The worked example on this page adds 20% VAT to a net amount of 10,000 TRY. The first step gives the VAT and the second the gross amount. Done the other way, the gross amount divided by 1.20 gives back the net amount.

Limits

The calculator does not decide which rate applies to a good or service. VAT withholding (tevkifat), VAT exemptions, other taxes such as the special consumption tax (ÖTV) and discounts are not included. Amounts are rounded to the kuruş; an invoice that rounds line by line can differ by a few kuruş in total.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the VAT rates in Türkiye in 2026?

The general VAT rate in Türkiye is 20%. Some goods and services, such as basic food, have a reduced rate of 10% or 1%. These rates have applied since 10 July 2023.

How do I take VAT out of a gross amount?

Divide the gross amount by (1 + rate) to get the net amount. The VAT is the difference between the two. At 20%, divide the gross amount by 1.20.

Why is 20% of the gross amount not the VAT?

VAT is charged on the net amount. Taking 20% of an amount that already includes VAT overstates the VAT. Divide the gross amount by 1.20 instead.

Which VAT rate applies to my purchase?

The rates are set in lists attached to Presidential decisions. The calculator does not choose the rate; pick the rate on your invoice or the one the seller charges.

Calculation rules

  • The rates have applied since 10 July 2023: general 20%, reduced 10% and 1% (VAT Law no. 3065 art. 28; Presidential Decision 7346, Official Gazette 7 July 2023). The calculator does not decide which rate applies to a good or service.
  • Adding VAT: VAT = amount × rate. Taking VAT out: net amount = gross amount / (1 + rate), VAT = the difference.
  • Amounts are rounded to the kuruş (half up). When VAT is taken out, the net amount is rounded first and the VAT is the rest, so the two add up to the amount entered.
  • VAT withholding (tevkifat), exemptions and other taxes such as the special consumption tax (ÖTV) are not included.
