Türkiye Credit Card Minimum Threshold Is 100,000 TRY

Region: TürkiyeHesaplayıcı

BDDK decision 11581 of 1 October 2026 raised Türkiye’s credit card minimum threshold from 50,000 TRY to 100,000 TRY. The minimum is 20% of the statement balance at or below 100,000 TRY and 40% above. Limits above 50,000 and up to 100,000 TRY move from 40% to 20%. It sets no later start date and no transition for existing cards.

How far did the threshold rise?

Board Decision 11581 is dated 1 October 2026. It sets the minimum again under article 22/7 of the Regulation on Bank Cards and Credit Cards. Decision 10970 of 26 September 2024 used a 50,000 TRY threshold: 20% of the statement balance at or below that limit, 40% above it. The new threshold is 100,000 TRY. The 20% and 40% shares are unchanged.

The decision says it will be sent to the card associations and published on the regulator’s site. It names no later start date. It also has no separate rule for cards already issued, for new cards, or for a transition period. The card limit picks the share; the share is applied to the statement balance.

What does a 75,000 TRY limit pay now?

Take a statement balance of 20,000 TRY on a card with a 75,000 TRY limit. The share is now 20%, so the minimum payment is 4,000 TRY and 16,000 TRY is left. Under decision 10970 that limit was in the 40% band. The same 20,000 TRY balance at 40% is what the calculator now returns for a 150,000 TRY limit: a minimum of 8,000 TRY and 12,000 TRY left. The difference is 4,000 TRY.

A limit of exactly 100,000 TRY is still 20%. The decision says “one hundred thousand Turkish lira or less”. Above 100,000 TRY the share is 40%.

At the central bank’s maximum monthly contractual rate for balances under 30,000 TRY, 3.25%, the 16,000 TRY left carries 520 TRY of contractual interest for one month. Banks add 15% KKDF and 15% BSMV, 78 TRY each, so the interest with taxes is 676 TRY. In the 40% band the 12,000 TRY left carries 390 TRY of interest, 58.50 TRY of KKDF, 58.50 TRY of BSMV and 507 TRY with taxes. Banks charge interest day by day from each purchase, so a statement can differ from this example.
