Notice pay in Türkiye is due when an employer ends a contract without observing the statutory notice period. In 2026 the periods are 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks under Article 17 of the Labour Law, based on gross wage and regular benefits. There is no cap. The 2026 minimum wage is 33,030 TRY gross and 28,075.50 TRY net.

How many weeks is notice pay in 2026?

The period depends on service: under 6 months, 2 weeks; 6 months to 1.5 years, 4 weeks; 1.5 to 3 years, 6 weeks; more than 3 years, 8 weeks. The boundaries are applied by day: exactly 6 months earns 4 weeks, exactly 1.5 years earns 6 weeks, and exactly 3 years still earns 6 weeks; 8 weeks requires more than 3 years. The start date and last working day count as service, and a month is 30 days. To convert weeks to days, multiply the number of weeks by 7: the longest period is 8 × 7 = 56 days. Details are on the notice period page.

The calculator does not check eligibility. You can use the notice pay guide to see whether your case involved a termination without the notice period.

Is there a cap on notice pay?

No. The calculation uses the full gross wage and regular fringe benefits; the Social Security Institution (SGK) premium ceiling does not cut the amount. In 2026 the monthly SGK earnings ceiling is 297,270 TRY, but that limit concerns premiums only (data page). There is therefore no notice pay cap updated mid-year.

Severance pay, by contrast, is limited by the cap in force on the exit date. To see both amounts together, use the severance and notice pay calculator.

Is notice pay paid gross or net?

Notice pay is calculated on the gross amount; the employer withholds income tax and stamp duty and pays the net amount. Income tax is applied in brackets under the 2026 wage tariff because the notice pay is added to the cumulative tax base for the year: 15% up to 190,000 TRY, 20% up to 400,000 TRY, 27% up to 1,500,000 TRY, 35% up to 5,300,000 TRY, and 40% above that (tariff). Stamp duty is 7.59 per mille of the gross amount (stamp duty). Income and stamp tax on the minimum wage are exempt; in the exit month this part is deducted from the withholdings.

Example: how do you go from gross wage to net pay?

For example, an employee who started on 1 February 2019 and whose last working day was 2 November 2026 has 7 years 9 months 2 days of service, qualifying for 8 weeks, or 56 days. With a monthly gross wage of 50,000 TRY and no regular benefits, the daily wage is 1,666.67 TRY and the gross notice pay is 93,333.33 TRY. No cumulative tax base was entered, so the calculator assumes the same gross wage every month from January to the exit date, deducts the employee social security and unemployment premiums, and counts November as 2 days of a 30-day month. On that assumption the base is 427,833.33 TRY, and after income tax and stamp duty the net notice pay is 72,500.43 TRY. The same assumption gives the 33,030 TRY and 80,000 TRY rows in the table.

Monthly gross wage Estimated cumulative base Gross notice pay Net notice pay
33,030 TRY 282,626.70 TRY 61,656 TRY 54,331.58 TRY
50,000 TRY 427,833.33 TRY 93,333.33 TRY 72,500.43 TRY
80,000 TRY 684,533.33 TRY 149,333.33 TRY 112,481.21 TRY

Example: 1 February 2019 to 2 November 2026, 56 days, no benefits; the base assumes the same gross wage every month

For example, if service is under 6 months the period falls to 2 weeks. An employee who started on 1 June 2026 on the minimum wage (33,030 TRY gross a month) and whose last working day was 2 November 2026 has a 14-day gross notice pay of 15,414 TRY. The minimum-wage exemption covers the withholdings, so the net amount is also 15,414 TRY.

You can work out your own net amount with your gross wage and service length in the notice pay calculator. Leave the base empty and the tool estimates it as above; a different cumulative base on the last payslip changes the tax.
